WYMONDHAM OUTREACH
In addition to the Norwich Support groups, there are a number of Outreach Groups in and around the area. Each Outreach Group varies in structure, but is normally an informal environment to share information and experiences over a cup of tea.
Drop in for tea/coffee and biscuits and to find out more about breast reconstruction following breast cancer. Jane and other Keeping Abreast Volunteers will be on hand to offer support and provide information about breast reconstruction in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. If you can't attend a meeting and would like a chat with Jane, please get in touch via Star Throwers or KA HQ at: info@keepingabreast.org.uk or on 01603 819113. For more information, you can also visit the 'Keeping Abreast - Norwich Support Group' Facebook page.
Alternatively you can watch a range of informational videos on our YouTube channel.

HEREDITARY BREAST CANCER
As well as supporting women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and who are considering immediate or delayed reconstruction, Keeping Abreast also supports those women considering elective reconstruction surgery due to a hereditary breast cancer risk or the discovery of a breast cancer gene. This support is provided by Keeping Abreast volunteers who have hereditary breast cancer and who may have opted for elective reconstruction surgery themselves. These volunteers can offer support at local face-to-face Support Groups or can do this over the phone, via email, WhatsApp or similar. The hereditary breast reconstruction volunteers can help those women considering their options and choices who are facing elective breast reconstruction surgery or who have discovered their hereditary breast cancer status after their reconstruction. This support also extends to their families. Our aim is to help people build their support network so that they don't feel they are facing these choices and situations alone.

WANT TO HELP?
We are always on the look-out for volunteers to join us to help run our Support Groups so that we can offer support to
more women considering, facing and undergoing breast reconstruction.
Ideally we are looking for some previous reconstruction patients who would be willing to talk to others about their
journeys, and also some individuals to help with the administrative side of things too!
If you are interested in finding out more, please contact us here.
About Us
Keeping Abreast was established in September 2007 by patients Anna Beckingham and Beverley Birritteri and Breast Reconstruction nurse specialist Ruth Harcourt. They recognised a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer and facing the possibility of mastectomy, and also women further down the line who are also considering reconstructive surgery, to be able to meet and talk to other women who have been through similar experiences. This allows women make an informed choice about whether or not to proceed with breast reconstruction.
